Tendence 2020: Lifestyle trends and worlds of inspiration for the perfect compilation of a product range

Buyers at Tendence in Frankfurt can look forward to unusual ideas and lifestyle and trend products – all related to interior design, gifts and home accessories. For four days, Tendence will be offering a vast array of incentives and worlds of inspiration to meet the needs of customers – all arranged by retail channel, lifestyle and target group. The line-up will range from individual product displays to innovative product lines for customers’ own shops. But Tendence will also focus on the pre-order business, presenting the latest trends for spring and summer 2021, both for major distributors and specialist chain stores. So there are plenty of good reasons to travel to Frankfurt from 27 to 30 June 2020.

“The way consumers obtain information has changed, and so have their buying patterns. This means more than ever before that retailers need to rethink and take specific action. By setting up various districts and highlighting different lifestyles, we are helping retailers to rethink and create even more creative product lines. The exhibitors’ product presentations will be perfectly matched by a highly varied complementary programme,” says Philipp Ferger, Tendence Group Show Director.

The Style City in Hall 12.0 will intentionally highlight certain products, providing contemporary inspiration. It will be a place where visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of lifestyle areas, each with the right incentives for making purchases. Whether it’s the modern, urban, cosy or adventure lifestyle area, each buyer will find exactly the right style for their own business. From Tendence 2020 onwards, the Design City product area will be integrated into the Style City as a lifestyle area. New inspiration will be delivered by exhibitors such as Fink, Lambert, Mossapour Interior Design and Philippi. The Modern section will include Casablanca and The Moshi, with their timeless highlights. Hip and style-focused products in an urban style will be offered by exhibitors such as Eja International and IB Laursen. Bungalow and Chic Antique are two of the companies in the Cosy section, where the focus will be on simple, romantic and natural products. Anyone who enjoys an extravagant, funky and dazzling style will have a great time in the Adventure district, where the latest trends will be showcased by exhibitors such as Fiftyeight 3D and Blechfabrik.

The various lifestyle marketplaces will also capture the specific style of their districts through inspiring upcycling workshops, point-of-sale presentations and other events. Navigation through the different lifestyles in the hall will be simplified by colour coding and pictograms.

In the Sunshine Estate in Hall 11.0, suppliers such as Boltze, Edelman, Exotica Cor Mulder and Kaemingk will be showcasing the new trends which are set to dominate spring and summer 2021. Exactly the right products for every season of the year and for every style can be found by buyers visiting the Moment Market in Hall 12.1: they can browse decorative items for the entire year, for every occasion and for almost every moment. Exhibitors will include AM-Design, Exner, Gilde Handwerk, Macrander and Hoff Interieur.

On all four days of the trade fair, a vast amount of inspiration for your own business, as well as new perspectives, will be on offer at numerous events and in various areas. These will include the Tendence Academy, the promotional programme Talents and the exhibition accompanying the competition Form, as well as the ConzoomSolutions@Tendence area, the Frankfurt Style Award and the lifestyle conference Pioneers of Lifestyle, to name but a few.

Tendence Academy

The Tendence Academy will give retailers a feeling of the trends that are impacting the market. Celebrity specialists will be sharing their specific ideas and practical insights, and buyers will find suitable inspiration for their store design. But this is also the right place for retailers and service providers wanting to expand their expertise in webshops and online marketing. All talks will be held on the stage of Hall 12.1.

Artisan crafts in Lifestyle Design

The promotional programme Talents at Tendence provides support for especially creative, highly skilful and innovative young designers working in artisan crafts, design and jewellery. The specially selected participants will have an opportunity to present their works in the Talents area of Modern Crafts & Jewellery in the Lifestyle Design section of the Style City in Hall 12.0, and they will also be able to network within the industry and the retail trade. For many talents this will be a great opportunity to launch themselves onto the design scene. As before, Tendence 2020 will offer an important platform for contemporary artisan crafts, mainly thanks to the prestigious exhibition Form, also located in the Lifestyle Design area of the Style City. The competition is hosted and organised by the German Crafts Association (BK) and Messe Frankfurt.

Conzoom Solutions @Tendence

Whether it’s high street retailers, online shops or multichannel providers, the online segment has long been the growth driver of the retail trade. Customers want to have access to the full product range 365 days a year, and to be successful, a retailer needs to find innovative ways to combine the real and the virtual world. Conzoom Solutions actively provides inspiration and ideas for effective shop presentation, as well as answers to burning issues that are facing the retail trade. With its new area ConzoomSolutions @Tendence, Tendence 2020 will support retailers directly on site. It’s a place where they can find new and innovative products and solutions designed specially for retailers supplementing a normal product range. The area can be found in Hall 12.0.

Frankfurt Style Award

For the second time, students from international fashion and design schools, master students and newcomers with their own labels will be presenting fashion projects with a focus on social change. Year on year, running under the motto “Benefits of Change”, they present new projects arising from their interaction with the environment, from personal values and from global ground rules. On the Saturday, the award-winning projects will be showcased in the form of fashion shows. The award ceremony for the Frankfurt Style Award will start at 17:00 hrs.

Pioneers of Lifestyle (POL)

Entitled “Expand Your Perspective”, the leading lifestyle conference Pioneers of Lifestyle will be held on the Tuesday of the trade fair (30 June 2020) – again with an exchange of ideas on relevant topics from and for the industry. The conference, organised by Digital Apartment and supported by Messe Frankfurt, is aimed at lifestyle innovators and industry start-ups just as much as professionals and industry experts. The first speakers have already confirmed their availability and will include Tarek Müller (About You), Holly Becker (decor8) and Björn Beneditz (Deichkind). The lifestyle conference will serve as a platform for a lively exchange of ideas on the future of the industry. Dominant topics in 2020 will be “Personal Brands”, “China”, “Business
Models”, “Retail”, “New Work” and “The Big Market Check”, presented by Pierre Haarfeld and Florian Berger. The 2020 conference will again feature a range of different event formats, such as presentations, masterclasses and interviews.
