Tendence Trends 2018/2019
Individual, sustainable and creative are all words that sum up the trends at Tendence 2018. This launch into the second half of the year has clearly shown that there is no longer one single trend. The fashion is for whatever pleases – and that offers a great deal of scope for creativity, experimentation and humour.
Final report: 2:0 for innovativeness and internationality
The consumer-goods business is and will remain an impulse business – this was once again evident from the spectrum to be seen at this year’s Tendence. Around 20,000 trade visitors from 82 countries – including five percent more visitors from outside Germany than last year – made new contacts, ordered the latest products for their businesses and gathered innovative ideas and impulses for a competitive future.
Consumer-goods fair rethought: Tendence 2019
The completion and consequent availability of Hall 12 offers new possibilities for 2019 onwards. Tendence is taking advantage of this opportunity to adapt the structure of the trade fair more closely to the various forms of trade and the different purchaser groups.
The summer must-have: Tendence 2018
Retailers need innovative assortments, appealing product presentations and sustainable customer loyalty programmes to attract more consumer attention against fierce competition in the trade. With new ideas, special presentations and collaborations, Tendence from 30 June to 3 July 2018 will generate impulses for the sector and offer visitors innovative solutions for a competitive future.
Results of the 2018 IFH Study: Online shopping the driving force of the trade in the future, too
Where do consumers shop today and where will they do so in the future? How can the conventional retail trade take advantage of the opportunities of digitalisation to be successful tomorrow? ‘Status Quo – the retail trade in Germany’, a study conducted by IFH Cologne on behalf of Messe Frankfurt reveals that the dynamism and mobilisation of the internet will continue to exert a modifying influence on shopping processes and customer interests.
FORM 2018 - Craftmanship and industrial product design
Good design is innovative and geared towards usability. It is aesthetically pleasing, durable, environmentally friendly, and at the same time, consistent down to the very last detail. Many different ideas, the love of detail, and the rigour and accuracy of the designs, are an expression of the designers’ and artists’ respect for consumers and the product. It is these requirements, and many more besides, that are met by the award-winning products in the FORM 2018 exhibition at Tendence in Frankfurt.
New creative design freedom
New materials and technical developments are giving rise to new creative options for designers and artistic craftspeople. During his guided tours of Tendence, Professor Hansjerg Maier-Aichen will examine the influence of these developments on modern product design.
Pioneers of Lifestyle: new event for the sector at Tendence
Innovations emerge from dialogue and links with others. That is good reason for the pioneers of the lifestyle sector to be meeting up for the first time at Tendence in the Messe Frankfurt Forum on 2 and 3 July 2018. The conference, which has been organised by Digital Apartment and sponsored by Messe Frankfurt, is aimed at lifestyle innovators and start-up companies, as well as established professionals and sector experts. Admission tickets and further information is available at: www.pioneers-of-lifestyle.de.
A desire for more: increase sales with the right impulses
Special product presentations are great magnets in the retail trade. At the Tendence Village from 30 June to 3 July 2018, eight renowned brands show how retailers can increase their sales with the right mix in their shop. Buyers from garden centres and DIY markets can also gain inspiration from the EFSA trends (European Floral and Lifestyle Product Suppliers) at the new Trend Showcase in Hall 8.0.

Something unusual, something new or simply something different: at Tendence there will be two areas dedicated to up-and-coming talents, where a select few designers and craftspeople will introduce themselves and their ideas and where they will showcase their individual one-off items, prototypes and short-production runs.
Tendence 2018: always ahead of the times
Tendence is a godsend for buyers and trend scouts who want to find the right information before everyone else, at the right time and in the right place. Differentiated categories and a colour-coded signage system make it easier to look for innovation, inspiration and information.

At Tendence, from 30 June to 3 July, retailers will find the must-haves of the season as well as clever ideas for outdoor living. At the same time, gardiente, which is taking place from 1 to 3 July in Wallau, will be showcasing trendy new products, including garden furniture, parasols, BBQ accoutrements, textiles and accessories. So that trade visitors to both fairs have a clear added value, the two events are collaborating to offer a range of services, including a free bus shuttle.
Paper & Friends puts its cards on the table
With Paper & Friends, Tendence is creating a new area for calendars, greetings cards, stationery, gift books and notebooks. The exhibition date at the end of June is the perfect time for ordering wall calendars and Christmas cards, in particular.

Concept store, the recipe for success. But what does it take to generate lasting customer interest in the bricks-and-mortar trade in this age of online shopping? At the ‘Concept Store Inspirations’ area, the coming Tendence shows step-by-step how retailers can find an unmistakable concept for their business.
Tendence.Impulse - guidance on 'being innovative'
Online retail offers many things, but not everything. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can browse through the whole range of products on offer, find detailed information, and order from the comfort of your own home. What it does not offer is qualified advice and the opportunity to touch. This is something that only the retailer on the ground can provide, as well as many other things: elements of surprise, an experience and entertainment.
Better living in the open air - the Outdoor Living area at Tendence
Why can we only relax in the living room? Every terrace and even the smallest balcony can be transformed into a cosy sitting area without much effort. The Outdoor Living area at Tendence, which is enjoying growth in visitor numbers in line with the trend, will showcase clever ideas and beautiful products, and demonstrate how to furnish outdoor spaces comfortably as well.
